Digswell Construction was established in 1990 by Mark Evans, a master builder born and raised in Digswell, living in Welwyn Garden City.

He began his career in the building trade at 16 as a ground worker on building sites before completing an apprenticeship with a respected local builder, attending college to learn brickwork allowing his ability to develop into the professional, highly skilled craftsmanship he offers today.

Over the years he has built a long working relationship with a reliable team of local, trusted tradespeople. Together they take pride in delivering high-quality workmanship and completing every project to the highest standard.

By working exclusively in Hertfordshire, Mark ensures punctual starts, efficient project management, and has strong relationships with local builders’ merchants, along with being a familiar, friendly face within the community. He offers a highly experienced, professional, and dependable service. A tidy site is standard practice, and his team are always polite, approachable, and respectful of your home.

We had our gas fire removed and Digswell Construction was used to repair both the external brickwork and the internal wall.
All work was completed quickly, efficiently and to a very good standard. The initial price quoted was the the final total.
We are very happy with Mark’s work and will certainly use the company again in the future.

In 2019 Digswell Construction carried out an upstairs extension to our
home and we were extremely pleased with Marks craftsmanship and
attention to detail, so in 2025 when I was granted permission to have my
garden wall moved and back garden hard landscaped I didn’t hesitate to
contact Mark and have him quote for the new work.

Front of the house had a number of brickwork issues, including a couple of loose bricks right at the top of the roof apex. Mark has been great throughout, turned up promptly, quick to reply to queries, quoted a fair price, and all the work has been completed to a high standard – looks great! Thanks Mark!

Our conservatory brick work has been in a poor condition since we purchased our property. After already seeing Digswell Construction’s work in the local area, we decided that they would be best for the job. Digswell Construction were honest, punctual and ensured a high quality finish. Mark completed the removal of a chimney from our 1930’s WGC home and re-tiled the roof with matching reclaimed roof tiles. He also carried out some brickwork repairs and repointing using colour matched lime mortar to keep everything in keeping with the original build. From quotation to completion, everything was managed professionally and we are very happy with all the work. We would highly recommend.

Mark did a fabulous job on a hole left by when an old boiler was replaced which was badly done. Not only has Mark restored that part of the wall to order, his work is tidy and he is obviously focused on doing a good job. Will definitely be asking Mark to do more work for us.

Mark sorted out my drive which a cowboy company had left in a terrible state. He found the correct blocks, worked so hard and did an excellent job. Would certainly recommend his workmanship.

I have used Digswell Construction for the last 20 years from my block paving drive to a 2 storey extension built in 2006. Last job completed this week was to install a new larger window in my hall, all completed on time and as usual an excellent job was completed
I have recommended Mark to other people in the past and would continue to do so.

We had Mark do our drive 3 years ago and it is still flat and solid as it was the day he done it.
We had him round again to move a fence and extend the original drive to the boundary.
As before he did a fantastic job, he was punctual and worked hard all day, when he left the area he had been working in it was tidy and safe.

Very happy with the finished project.

I can’t recommend Digswell Construction highly enough.

We live in a very old house and Mark has done an excellent job retiling the roof and replacing some brick panels within oak beams. He has a wealth of knowledge in the building trade and we have been extremely pleased with his brick work skills on what has proved to be a very complex repair that other builders did not want/have the skills to undertake (picture attached). He is also reliable and honest and we would not hesitate to recommend him.

I’ve used Mark for 2 jobs in the last year and would highly recommend. He is a highly competent builder, very hard working, quality of the highest standard and goes the extra mile. Our first job in 2020 was a rebuild of brickwork & installation of lintels above our garage door, side gate and access door to garage. Mark did a fantastic job and is a perfectionist, his brickwork is of the highest standard, we were very happy with it. Therefore, I didn’t hesitate in calling him back for a 2nd job a year later, to install additional courses of brickwork to our outside office, repairing brickwork around the window & door. He did another great job and will use Mark again for any further jobs!

I had Digswell Construction to replace a very awkward tiered grass garden with Indian Sandstone, new steps and borders. Mark is without a doubt an extremely competent builder. He is exceptional in what he does and is a perfectionist. He really does go the extra mile. Mark and Dan work incredibly hard and really do deliver a professional service and take pride in their work. What was a very challenging project and a lot of hard labour just shows how committed these guys are. I can not express how delighted I am with the end result. Without a doubt I’d use and recommend Digswell Construction, they know their trade and deliver exceptional quality and results.

The quality of Mark’s work is fantastic and I am very happy with my new patio and fence! The attention to detail Mark put in to the job has given us a high quality finish and I wouldn’t hesitate to use him again for future projects.

Mark himself is an honest, trustworthy, helpful guy who was always on time and was professional throughout. Both he and Dan worked tirelessly through 35 degree heat and then thunderstorms to give us a fantastic area to enjoy for years to come.
